Which bookings count towards a customer's booking total?

Total bookings counts each booking as it's made; a visit follows one rule everywhere (Auto-VIP, the Repeat and First-time filters, first-visit offers); the Average party size setting (once called Visit counting) controls which bookings feed that stat.

A customer's Total bookings figure counts each booking when it's made — including ones they later cancelled or didn't turn up for.

A visit is different, and one rule decides it everywhere visits are counted — Auto-VIP, the visit count on a customer's quick view and booking history, the Repeat customer and First-time filters, first-visit offers and your customers' own accounts. It follows how your team tracks a service (Settings → Bookings → During service):

Bookings you brought in with the CSV import (Settings → Data import) whose time had already passed when you imported them count as visits in every mode — nobody could have ticked those off. An imported booking that was still to come follows the rule above, like any other booking.

If you change how your team tracks a service, every customer's visit count is updated to the new rule within a minute or two.

Bookings still to come, cancelled bookings, no-shows, requests still waiting for approval and waitlist joins never count, so a serial canceller never reaches your Auto-VIP threshold.

The Average party size setting in Settings → Bookings → During service (under How your team runs a service, beside the tracking mode it belongs with — it used to be called "Visit counting") controls which bookings feed the Avg party statistic on the profile: Attended bookings only (the default and recommended choice — only bookings where your team recorded that the customer turned up count: ticked off as arrived, or cleared, depending on how you track a service — so the average reflects customers who actually came) or All confirmed bookings. If nobody records visits the way you run a service, choose All confirmed bookings. Each booking is only ever counted once, and changing the setting isn't retroactive — existing customers aren't recalculated; only future bookings use the new rule.
