How do I set up a device for the staff portal?

Pair a tablet, front-of-house device or computer to the staff portal with a one-time owner sign-in so staff can then use their PINs on it.

Every device that runs the staff portal must be paired once by you (or an admin) — you sign in with your own account password on that device, name it, and from then on staff use just their PINs on it.

Pairing needs your account email and password (or Google sign-in) — not a staff PIN.

Pairing is a one-time step per device: it stays trusted until you revoke it, and you can pair up to 100 devices. Each one is listed — and individually revocable — under Settings → Security → Paired devices. A revoked device drops back to the setup screen, and staff on it see "This device was removed by the account owner."

One edge case: if your account has been required to use two-factor authentication and you haven't set it up yet, you'll be sent to set that up before you can pair anything.

Adding ResoFlow to a tablet or phone home screen

There is one ResoFlow app for everyone. On the tablet, open the venue's portal link in Safari (or Chrome on Android), sign in with a PIN, and the portal Home shows a one-time set-up card ("ResoFlow on this iPad"): tap Get the app for the steps with a picture of where the button is — on an iPhone the Share button is in the bar at the bottom, on an iPad it is in the address bar at the top, then Add to Home Screen; on Android tap Install (or Chrome's menu → Install app). From then on the icon opens on the PIN pad whenever nobody is signed in on that tablet — and an owner or admin who is signed in can choose The staff PIN page under Settings → Notifications → Devices and push → When the app opens, show so the app opens there for them too. An owner or admin can then tap Turn on alerts so the device gets the venue's floor alerts — see How do I get ResoFlow on my phone and turn on alerts?.

If an installed app ever opens on an Open your staff portal screen instead of the PIN pad, tap Set this device up and sign in once with your owner or admin account. The app then opens your restaurant's PIN screen on that device (if the device is new, you'll be asked to name and pair it first — one sign-in covers both steps).

Removing a paired device also stops any push alerts it was getting, in the same tap.
